CONSTRUCTION OVERSIGHT SERVICES
At RMA, we specialize in site specific aquifer assessments to ensure the sustainable design and operation of municipal wellfields in Southwest Florida. Our expertise includes subsurface mapping, integration of geophysical data, test well drilling, and pumping test analysis. Given the region’s complex hydrogeology—characterized by dual or triple porosity systems—our thorough evaluations help optimize well placement, spacing, and pumping rates while ensuring cost-effectiveness and good water quality. Municipalities and water supply utilities frequently rely on us to assess and improve underperforming RO wellfields.

GEOLOGICAL SERVICES
RMA provides a wide range of geology-related services. This includes water resource planning for water supply and reuse, wellfield protection plans, annual reports for regulatory compliance, and providing expert testimony. We have utilized our expertise in mapping and cross-section preparation to provide semi-regional, detailed and comprehensive evaluations for use in planning for future new RO wellfields or wellfield expansions.
WELLfield DESIGN/ WELL CONSTRUCTION
RMA specializes in well design and construction for water resources in Southwest Florida, with a strong focus on wellsite geology to accurately evaluate subsurface formations. This includes detailed lithologic characterization, geophysical log analysis to identify hydrostratigraphic units, assessing formation water quality, and identifying various porosity types. RMA's principals have been involved in exploratory drilling, aquifer testing, well design, permitting, construction supervision, and well rehabilitation across Lee County and surrounding areas since the late 1990’s
HYDROGEOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS, MAPPING, AND ASSESSMENT
RMA is capable of conducting a wide range of hydrogeological and geological investigations. We have successfully completed more than 600 such projects in southwest Florida, all performed within budget and on time. This has included performing the necessary due diligence for each project. This typically includes reviewing all available subsurface data from nearby wells, collecting new data, such as water samples from nearby wells for which water quality data is not available, analyzing geophysical logs to calculate water quality versus depth, and assimilating that data into maps and cross-sections.
COMPUTER MODELING
RMA has developed and calibrated hydraulic and solute transport computer models for eight RO wellfields in Southwest Florida over the past decade. We've also updated the Lee County Wellfield Protection Ordinance model three times (2008, 2011, and 2020) to incorporate new wells and adjusted withdrawal rates, protecting 16 public wellfields with a capacity of over one million gallons per day.
Aquifer Storage and Recovery
Several southwest Florida utilities experimented with aquifer storage and recovery during the early 2000’s as a way to store water in the wet season for use during periods of high demand during the winter while more people reside in the area. Most of these systems were abandoned due to the costs associated with maintenance and poor water quality/quantity during recovery. The only currently working system within Lee County is at the Lee County Utilities Corkscrew Water Treatment Plant. Our personnel obtained the initial FDEP permit and continues to provide ongoing management and compliance sampling services for the system.
WATER SUPPLY PERMITTING
Our expertise in water supply permitting and regulatory compliance in Southwest Florida is unmatched. We have successfully obtained and modified hundreds of water use permits, securing increased aquifer allocations in sensitive areas and removing unwarranted permit monitoring requirements. These complex permit modifications were achieved through highly calibrated groundwater flow modeling, ensuring compliance while optimizing water resource management. RMA also maintains a network of about 90 facilities for which we collect monthly water level, water quality, and pumpage data required for their individual water use permits.
PHASE I AND II SITE ASSESSMENTS
The Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), is required by most financial institutions and is desired by property investors to demonstrate their due diligence in order to absolve themselves from the liability associated with environmentally impacted properties. An ESA can also document baseline or current conditions to avoid liability for future environmental impairment. In some cases, property owners may rely on a Phase I ESA to hold lessees accountable for activities leading to an adverse impact. Our professionals have been conducting ESA’s in Southwest Florida since the early 1990’s. This local level of expertise remains unmatched by any other local consultant.
